One local said: “I just thought they kept themselves to themselves, like other people around here generally do.

“It’s shocking to hear that a woman has been killed and another man left in hospital."

George Duffy, a Droitwich Town councillor, said: “Any kind of loss of life in Droitwich is usually quite a shock.

"In all the years I have lived here, I have found Droitwich a friendly place, especially after the pandemic.

"People had grown apart a bit but are starting to come back together. It is important to make sure we check in on our neighbours when we can and make sure we know what is going on around us.

"That is the best way we, as a community, can help keep tragic events to a minimum, to make sure everyone in our town feels part of our town.”

A witness described seeing police vehicles outside a bungalow with ambulances, a fire engine and multiple police vehicles there on the day of the incident.

He added: “At one point five police vehicles were outside, two of which were forensic investigation vans. Men in overalls were spotted removing bags from the bungalow.”

Detective chief inspector Leighton Harding said: “We understand the concern incidents of this nature cause within local communities, we believe those involved are known to each and there is no risk to the wider community.”
