A flood warning on the river Severn in Worcestershire remains in place.

Flooding of property, roads and farmland continues in Kempsey as the rivers levels are expected to peak tomorrow morning (Saturday).

The Environment Agency expects it to peak at 6.2m to 6.4m as river levels remain high at the Kempsey Yacht Club river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.

Flooding is expected to affect Court Meadow Caravan Park.

It warned: "Flood water could be deep and fast flowing, and therefore pose a risk to life.

"Further light rainfall is forecast over the next few days, and we are closely monitoring the situation.

"Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with Local Authorities.

"Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety."

A second flood warning on the river Severn at Hanley Road, Upton upon Severn, was removed this morning (Friday).

Flooding is also possible on the river Severn in Worcester which is expected to peak between 4.2m and 4.5m overnight into Saturday morning.

The Environment Agency expects flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Highley to Tewkesbury.

Locations affected are Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke and Upton upon Severn.

The river Severn's predicted peaks are:

Bewdley, 3.4m to 3.5m this afternoon (Friday)

Worcester, 4.2m to 4.5m, and Diglis, 4.0m to 4.2m, overnight into Saturday morning (December 16)

Kempsey Yacht Club, 6.2m to 6.4m, and Saxons Lode in Upton-on-Severn, 4.7m to 4.9m, on Saturday morning.

The Environment Agency went on to warn that further light showers are forecast over the next few days.

It continued: "We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days.

"We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."

More rain - though not as heavy - is predicted to fall in Worcester over the weekend.

The weather will still be quite grey with Saturday's skies often being cloudy with patchy drizzle over the hills though the Met Office said there will be the occasional brighter spell developing at times.

It is expected to be another mild day though breeze, according to the Met Office, especially over the higher ground with a maximum temperature 12C.

Sunday to Tuesday will be staying cloudy with outbreaks of rain.

Rain will be turning heavier at times on Tuesday, before clearing later in the day.

It will be breezy with temperatures generally above average, particularly by night.
