The Traitors returned this month for a new series with 22 more contestants battling it out to win up to £120,000.

The aim of the show is for the faithfuls to work out who the traitors are in order to split the prize fund at the end of the show. If a traitor is in the final, they can take all the money, leaving the faithfuls with nothing.

One of the contestants this year is from Birmingham but now lives in Worcestershire but who is he and how is his Traitors journey going so far?

Season 2 spoilers ahead...

Meet Miles, a contestant on The Traitors

Miles is a 36-year-old veterinary nurse from Birmingham but he now lives in Worcestershire.

The BBC sat down with Miles to ask him about his journey on The Traitors.

When asked why he wanted to apply for the second series of The Traitors, Miles explained that he feels he’s “done everything so ‘correct'" and wanted to try something a bit “different”.

He said: “Basically, I’ve done everything that I feel like is the cookie cutter thing to do, you know? I went to school, went to college, got my qualification, found my husband, had a family. I just thought I’ve done everything so “correct”.

“When I saw the show, I thought it was quite clever, quite different. It was nicely done.

“I like that the show has normal, everyday people. There are going to be times when you’re going to have beef with people, because we’ll get so involved in the roles that we’re playing. It’s just that, I'm playing a role.

“As long as my nearest and dearest know that then that’ll make me feel a bit better – it's not real life.”

While Miles didn’t watch the first series as soon as it launched, he said he was “hooked” after watching the first episode and he “loved the twists and turns”.

When asked what he thinks he’ll bring to the game, Miles said: “If anything, it has to be humour. Humour is my number one really, so I find the funny in everything.

“Obviously respectfully. Humour’s probably the first thing that I bring forward because that’s my norm, even if I’ve been cooped up that’s what I fall back onto to make myself feel comfortable again.

“I’m happy to laugh at myself...and others.”

What would Miles do with the prize money?

After joking he'd spend the money on “loads of plastic surgery”, Miles said he would like to move into his forever home with his family.

He said: “What I really want to do is get our forever home. I’d like to pay off our debts and get into our forever home and really settle our roots.

“Whilst everything is fine as it is, it would be lovely to go forward with that and live somewhere in the country.”

Is Miles a faithful or a traitor?

Miles began the show as a faithful but was recruited by the traitors to join them.

At the start of the new series, Ash, Paul and Harry were chosen by host Claudia Winkleman to be the traitors and now Miles has joined to become a fourth traitor.

He seems to have settled into the role well but as viewers have only seen three episodes so far, there’s more drama to come.

Before starting the show, Miles was asked how he thought he might feel if he was picked to be a traitor.

He said: “I think it would be hard, because obviously you make relationships which make it hard to lie to these people. At the same time, you’ve got to be a good Traitor.

“When you think of people like Wilfred (a traitor in the first series), he was playing the game well and you admired him because it was so hard to do. I think I would feel the same way. It’s bittersweet but I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do.

“I’m in that role so I’m going to do that role properly, I want to do it well. I’m very much aware that it is just a game, it’s about trying to get that nice balance of being genuine and playing the game.

“I don’t have to lie about who I am, or my thoughts and beliefs, but I also have got a job to do and that’s why I think I’d be comfortable as a Traitor or a Faithful, really.”
