TWO men from Worcester have been charged with drug offences after a car was stopped by 'armed officers' according to witnesses.

The charges follow a vehicle being stopped on Deansway in Worcester last Thursday afternoon.

Karim Moustati, 22, of Grasmere Drive in Worcester has been charged with supply of Class A drugs.

Saood Ali, 23, of Larkhill in Worcester has been charged with supply of Class A and Class B drugs.

Both have been remanded in custody this morning at Kidderminster Magistrates’ court.

A witness described armed officers being involved in the arrest but this has not been confirmed by West Mercia Police.

We reported how a marked car on blue lights was parked in Deansway near the Cathedral before Heart of Worcester College, Maggs Day Centre and Copenhagen Street car park this afternoon.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said on Thursday: "Officers stopped a car on Deansway in Worcester this afternoon around 3.30pm.

"Two people have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences."

One eyewitness said there was a man in a balaclava in the front passenger seat.

A second eyewitness said: "It was an armed police stop around around 3.53 this afternoon. Eight armed police looked to arrest three people."
