THE city is full of fish and chip restaurants but some of them are all too easy to miss, tucked away on a side street or away from the city centre.

Based on recommendations from Worcester News readers, here are the top 5 'hidden gem' fish and chip shops in Worcester that are not to be missed.

This is not to say that these recommendations mean the fish and chip shops are better than other restaurants in more obvious, central locations.

The aim is just to highlight some of the great fish and chip shops that might be slightly harder to find - unless, of course, you know where to look.

One of the most popular suggestions from Worcester News Facebook readers was The Crispy Cod in Pinkett Street in Worcester which is well away from the centre of Worcester in a residential street.

It is run by Predrag Djuric, known as 'Pedja', and is one of the city's longest running fish and chip shops.

The business itself has been in the city since 1930 and has a loyal following with one customer coming to the same shop for the last 50 years because it was 'the best fish and chips he had ever had'.

Mr Djuric came to the UK from Yugoslavia in the 1990s, building up a successful business. The business has a 4.5 rating (40 reviews) on Tripadvisor.
