WORK appears to be accelerating at a deserted city caravan park with hardstanding placed on the former plots as heavy vehicles move in.

Ketch Caravan Park is changing fast as hardstanding sections have been laid down on the site after the last caravans left the site off the A38 Bath Road in Worcester.

No planning application has yet been handed in to Worcester City Council although some work can take place under what is called 'permitted development'.

The latest photos, taken from the Carrington Bridge, show six rectangular sections of hardstanding and several work vehicles on the site including a digger.

Earlier this year it appeared that the teams have been working towards creating an elevated plateau on the caravan park but this has not been confirmed.

There were about 60 caravans on the site by the River Severn, including statics and touring caravans, until the owners were asked to leave.

As previously reported, caravan owners received a letter in April from Tremlo Limited which read: "You will need to leave the Park by that date and to make arrangements to remove the holiday home and any other personal possessions from the Park by no later than November 30, 2023 (being one month from the date of termination).

"The Agreement will of course remain in force until October 31, 2023, and you will be entitled to continue to occupy the holiday home until that date."

The site managers have so far declined to comment.

A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said: "We are continuing to monitor the works at the Ketch Caravan Site.  The provision of hard standings for caravans is a requirement of the Caravan Site Licence, which means that they constitute ‘permitted development’ (under Schedule 2, Part 5, Class B of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended)."

A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said in February: “The city council is aware of the work taking place at the Ketch caravan park and, on the basis of our investigations to date, we are satisfied that it is being carried out in accordance within the permitted development rights for caravan sites.

"These allow a certain amount of development to be carried out without planning permission, where it is a requirement of the conditions of a site licence. The council will continue to monitor the site and is actively investigating the recent removal of some trees.”

We have approached Worcester City Council for a fresh update.
