HEARTBROKEN Worcester City fans have reacted after the team lost on penalties in the semi-final leaving the club's Wembley dreams in tatters but their pride in their team is undimmed.

Worcester City Football Club lost to Wakering Rovers on penalties in the Isuzu FA Vase on Saturday but fans agreed that the league-winners - and their fans - could leave with their heads held high after what many say is their team's best ever season.

Jake Gordon’s volley made it 1-1 overall to cancel City's Elliot Hartley’s winner in the first-leg but Dylan Hart’s header mid-way through the first-half put City back ahead on aggregate at 2-1.

Substitute Max Gnandi fired the ball into the far corner seven minutes from time to give the hosts a 2-1 win and send the tie to penalties which City lost to the despair of  400 travelling fans.

Fans shared their disappointment after Worcester City Facebook page but this was tempered by immense pride in the club, crowned Hellenic League Premier champions.

Shaun Passey wrote: "Devastated like every Worcester City fan, but if someone said before the season began City would win the league, the league cup and get to the semi-final of the FA Vase, we wouldn't have easily taken that. Successful season I'd say. Well done Worcester City FC. You've done the City proud. Up the City."
