A DRIVER has been hit with a large fine after he was caught breaking a temporary motorway speed limit on a motorway near Worcester.

Danel McCaffery was caught exceeding a temporary 60mph speed limit imposed for roadworks on the M5 at junction 8 (Strensham Services).

McCaffery, 37, of Keren Drive, Norton, Worcester was behind the wheel of a Jaguar on the southbound carriageway when he was caught by the automatic device on October 23 last year.

He has pleaded guilty via the single justice procedure with the case heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on May 16.

The defendant was fined £298 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £119 and costs of £90.
