TWO young teenagers were 'robbed at knifepoint' before their alleged attackers were punched to the ground by a city boxer as the dad of one of the alleged victims gave chase.

Witnesses have described seeing boxer Jon DP Shaw knock the two suspects off the stolen e-bike in St Nicholas Street in Worcester city centre, the blow leaving both of them sprawled in the middle of the road.

Video footage has emerged of the aftermath as police swoop on the scene and crowds spill out from the pubs to watch the drama unfold.

An irate Mr Shaw, who has criticised the use of knives in the past after himself being stabbed, can be heard shouting at the suspects: "They had a massive knife, robbing kids."

It is understood that the bike has now been returned to its rightful owner after the boy's family shared an urgent appeal about the robbery in the wake of the incident.

The mum of one of the 14-year-old boys thanked Mr Shaw publicly on Facebook, writing: "I can't thank Jon DP Shaw enough for what he has done for us last night in helping to secure the bike back and them getting arrested and they still had the knives on them."

We have approached Mr Shaw for further comment, but he declined to say anything further until a full police investigation had been carried out. However, he did share a video of his reaction on social media.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a report of a robbery that happened around 9.10pm yesterday evening (Sunday, July 6) within Brickfields Park in Worcester.

"A 17-year-old boy and 19-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon, GBH and robbery. They both remain in custody whilst enquiries continue."

The witness, who declined to be named, said knives fell out on the ground and the two men were both 'knocked on their backsides'.

"The only two people arrested were the two people who had been on the e-bike," he said.

One of the males was said to have run off before the dad of one of the victims chased him down and 'frogmarched' him to the police, who arrested both males.

"He grabbed him by the collar and dragged him back to town near the Courtyard pub," said the witness.

The initial incident occurred in Brickfields Park in Worcester when two 14-year-old boys were held at knifepoint and one had his e-bike stolen.

The dad of one of the 14-year-olds went looking for the suspects in the car and, in the interim, another man was stabbed in New Street in Worcester.

One witness, who declined to be named, said he witnessed Jon DP Shaw, a local boxing coach knock both men off the e-bike before police arrived on scene. One of the suspects tried to run but was chased by the dad of one of the teenagers who had been robbed.

The dad was described as 'grabbing the suspect by the collar and frogmarching him to the police'.
