'DANGEROUS' steps which had fallen into disrepair, including a missing handrail, have been fixed at last after two years of complaints were answered.
Cllr Andrew Cross visited the steps on Fly Alley in Aconbury Orchard, Warndon Villages, Worcester on Wednesday to see for himself the repair work which was well underway.
A team from Worcestershire County Council was carrying out the repairs, explaining to Cllr Cross that the work would be finished 'today or tomorrow'.

Cllr Cross, a county councillor for Warndon Villages and a city councillor for Leopard Hill, has been raising concerns about the condition of the steps with Worcestershire County Council on behalf of residents who use the popular path in the orchard near Woodgreen Drive.
He spoke to workers who had replaced and reinforced the steps and repaired the handrail, thanking them for their work and said he thought residents would be pleased with the result.

He said issues included missing steps and missing sections of the handrail which meant it had been dangerous and that had been calls for repairs since March 2024.
The well-used path and steps runs to Stableford play area and the old golf course (Augusta Drive).

Cllr Cross said: "It is brilliant to see this work done before winter. It was early 2024 when a resident first asked me to get the steps and handrail repaired .We persevered, through a few queries and setbacks, and ultimately the repairs were agreed. I am very relieved I didn’t have to get my bucket and spade out!
"It took a while, and it’s been a journey, but it is a massive improvement and will benefit a lot of local residents, also the leaders and members of local walking groups. Access to nature and public green space is essential for wellbeing and has noted public health benefits. This repair is another step towards a better Active Travel rating for Worcestershire."
