STEVE Goode has been voted in as the new chairman of Worcester City after Anthony Hampson resigned from the post, the club have confirmed.

Hampson had been in the hot seat since replacing Dave Boddy in November 2008 but handed over the reins to Goode at a board meeting last night.

Worcester City Supporters’ Trust chairman David Wood, Tom Swan and Simon Gregory have also joined existing directors Colin Layland and Martin Pinches to form a new board.

They will now meet with City’s management team and players at tonight’s training session ahead of the new season which kicks off on Saturday.

Who is on Worcester City's new-look board?

The Worcester News spoke to chairman Goode who gave an insight on each director.

Tom Swan

“He's a big City fan. He used to go regularly, never missed a game. He was the one you could see behind the goal with a big England flag. I think he has still got it but stays in his bag.

“He is a retired schoolteacher and is one of those guys who won’t shy away from doing anything.”

David Wood

“He is the chairman of Worcester City Supporters’ Trust.

“He is a businessman who is passionate about the club and is an ideal person to have involved because if there are questions regarding the ground who better is there to ask than Dave?”

Simon Gregory

“He has been involved with Worcester City for a number of years.

“He used to sort out all of the memorabilia at the club. He mainly paid for that himself and all the money went back to the supporters’ club and the trust.

“That was great because we were struggling at the time and he helped the club a lot.

“He used to live in Bromley and travelled to every game but now lives in Worcester.”

Martin Pinches

“He is a great asset.

"His family have sponsored the club for 15 consecutive seasons.

"He gets involved in the club and represents them at home and away games.”

Colin Layland

“He is still going to be standing as vice-chairman.

“He is a Worcester bloke, loves the club and is there home and away.

“I think we will get more out of Colin now.

"I think the new board is going to perk him up a bit and he will get more involved even though he does a lot already.”
