FORMER Worcester Warriors' director of rugby Gary Gold has urged the club's owners to 'do the right thing' in honour of Cecil Duckworth CBE.

With growing fears surrounding the financial state of the club, Warriors' supporters have been keen to ensure the legacy left behind by Duckworth, the former chairman of the rugby club, is continued.

Duckworth took the club into the professional era after joining the club in 1997 as executive chairman and he is the reason Warriors are where they are today.

But in recent months, current club owners Jason Whittingham and Colin Goldring have set up multiple different businesses to separate the club from the land it sits on.

Warriors were issued a winding up petition last week by the HMRC over an unpaid tax bill, reported to be in the area of £6m.

If the debt cannot be paid then there is the possibility of severe punishments and now supporters fear that everything Duckworth did is at threat of being undone.
