IT has been a positive week for Worcester City, as back-to-back victories has seen them begin to move away from trouble at the bottom of the Midland Football League Premier.

Consecutive wins and clean sheets has seen City beat both Market Drayton Town and Bewdley Town away from home in the space of four days to push Chris Cornes' side six points clear of second-bottom Wolverhampton Casuals.

Cassies still have two games in hand but manager Cornes is a much happier man than he was two weeks ago.

"I know Casuals have got games in hand but you want the points on the board, not games in hand, because you still have to go and win those games," he said.

"We are over the moon with how the week has gone but we won't get carried away with it.

"Naturally, you still look over your shoulder a little bit but two results on the bounce is really good. The teams around us lost as well which helps.

"We are just trying to get a little more belief and confidence because we are still better than what we are showing.

"But it will come. When I walked into the changing rooms (after Bewdley win) the lads were all buzzing, they are happy. It's nice to put two wins together."

City are next in action on Saturday away at Tividale, who are just a place above them in the MFL Premier table.

Cornes' men then return to Claines Lane for a first home game of 2023 when they host Casuals.

It's a two game period that could really put an end to relegation fears and then City can start at what's above them, rather than worrying about what's behind them.
