A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Officers attended an altercation involving four people outside Warndon Community Centre, on Shap Drive at around 7pm, Wednesday.

"One woman was taken to hospital and remains in a stable condition. Three arrests were made, all have been bailed. The investigations are currently ongoing."

A cordon was placed around the scene

Witnesses have described how an initial fight took place in Hawkshead Court, not far from the community centre, and that racist abuse was directed at young men with their female friends.

Tensions are said to have calmed down before flaring up again outside the community centre where the main incident happened.

George Davidge said: "There was lots of blood there. The wife of the man who was arrested is in hospital. At one stage there were eight police cars here, police vans and an ambulance. As far as we know only one person was taken to hospital. It was like something from the 1950s. I was shocked. This is such a quiet court. Usually you can hear a pin drop in the evening. There was masses of shouting."
