However, no evidence of a crash site or a plane could be found at the suggested scene.

Was the emergency call malicious?

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had been called to the possible plane crash which they referred to as a "false alarm".

She said: "We had a report of a plane crash. We have to go out to check on the report but nothing was found. It was a false alarm."

However, reports on social media suggest that a plane had almost clipped a chimney and was seen to lose control.

This may have been what sparked the 999 call however this has not been confirmed by the emergency services.

The call was believed to have been made with good intentions.
