A TO LET sign has gone up outside a former restaurant in the city centre which previously had trouble hiring staff.

Prospective restaurateurs are being offered the opportunity to set up in the former Bodega Cantina restaurant on Foregate Street.

The restaurant had remained closed for several months as it struggled to hire staff but sis reopen in May.

However, RightMove is now listing the building as being available to let for £2,000 per month and £24,000 per annum.

The former South-American infused bar and restaurant first started trading in 2014 but has had ongoing employment issues with difficulties recruiting staff.

The restaurant was forced to close in November 2021 due to staff shortages with plans to reopen in February.

However, it remained closed until May.

Mr Scriven, the owner of Bodega Cantina, previously spoke to Worcester News of his sadness at having to take the decision to close Bodega Cantina temporarily at the end of November 2021.

"I didn’t expect it to take so long to re-open the venue but the hospitality industry is currently experiencing unprecedented shortages of staff and we were let down on numerous occasions whilst trying to re-open the restaurant by people who had accepted positions with us to then subsequently change their minds without telling us."

Although the restaurant has closed in Worcester, fans of the South American eatery can still go to Bodega Cantina venues across the Midlands in Birmingham, Leamington Spa and Leicester.

Bodega Cantina was previously The Foregate Patisserie until it closed in 2013.

The Foregate Street Patiserrie was a feature of the city’s retail landscape since the late 1970s, opening a second branch in St John’s three years after the first shop opened, near Foregate Street’s railway bridge.

Bodega Cantina completely transformed the former bakery adding a vibrant blue frontage and South American decor inside the building.
