A DRUNK man who tried to punch terrified rail staff while calling them 'silly sausages' complained he was being treated like a triple murderer.

Matthew Martindale was locked out of Worcester's Shrub Hill Railway Station because of his bad behaviour but claimed he was only trying to get his 'man bag' which was still inside.

The 40-year-old of Worcester, who is on an anger management course in prison, appeared at court over video link from HMP Oakwood.

We reported how the window cleaner was jailed last September for threatening people with scissors in Primark and came 'within a hair's breadth of being shot' by armed police in Wichenford on June 26, 2016.

At Shrub Hill, Martindale claimed he would return with a machine gun and shoot people, tried to punch staff, threw bottles at windows, made threats to kill and tried to fight staff and passengers.

He admitted three public order offences (threatening or abusive or insulting words or behaviour).

Two charges relate to May 21 at the station and one to May 19 when he swore at Co-op worker Christopher Gilder in Sansome Walk.

Eleanor Peart, prosecuting, said 'distressed' passengers got off the train from Birmingham at 11pm and the defendant could be heard shouting and swearing, observed by train dispatcher Hassan Mulla.

Miss Peart said of Martindale: "He was looking for a fight, intimidating everyone with his threatening demeanour. He was shouting 'silly sausages' repeatedly."

Martindale was heard to say 'fight me!' and 'are you going to have a go?'

He also insulted a woman 'to wind up the female's male partner' before asking him if he wanted a fight too, telling him: "You're dead! I will kill you."

The doors of the station were locked to keep the defendant out and, while bending down to lock it, Martindale swung a punch at Mr Mulla which 'came close to his face'. He also threw bottles at the window.

"He feared for the safety of those around him," said Miss Peart. The second victim, Allan Sheldrake, tried to 'ignore' Martindale who claimed to be 'from Bethnal Green' and was 'going to ... shoot them all'.

Martindale interrupted, saying he did not say this and added: "They had my man bag."

The prosecutor went on to describe Martindale walking in front of the replacement bus service coaches outside the station, one of which had to perform an emergency stop.

Martindale again interrupted and said: "They were all scared of a 5ft 3in person? I don't like lying, sorry."

Martindale was also described as abusive to officers, one describing him as extremely intoxicated.

He kicked the door of the police van as he was taken away and 'threatened to return and burn the whole place down'.

Shaun Newey, defending, asked that Martindale be given credit for his early guilty plea.

Martindale has ADHD and schizophrenia 'and has battled class A drugs and alcohol', hitting 'a bump in the road when his father died'.

Martindale said: "I'm being treated like it's a triple murder!"

Magistrates added a month to his existing prison sentence which will be served concurrently so it will not add to its length.

They ordered him to pay £30 compensation to each victim.
