THE most crime-hit residential streets in Worcester can be revealed.

As previously reported there were 1,147 crimes reported across the city in January - the latest month of data made available. 

The data has been released by West Mercia Police revealing the number of the types of crime reported, as well as their location.

Breaking down the data by street reveals the most crime-hit residential street in Worcester in January was Gresham Road in Dines Green, with 13 reports.

Fairmount Close, off Brickfields Road, had 11 reports while Rodborough Drive in Warndon and Wiselack Place in Warndon Villages both had 10 reports.

Among the most crime-hit city centre streets that month were Angel Street (29 reports), Angel Place (13 reports), The Foregate (12 reports), Church Street (12 reports), Castle Street (12 reports) and Southfield Street (10 reports).

 

The crimes reported in Gresham Road included violence and sexual offences, public order and anti-social behaviour. 

There were 41 burglaries reported including in Albany Road, All Saints' Road, Beauchamp Close, Salters Close and Mapit Place.

There were six robberies reported in January including in Gillam Street, Mulberry Terrace, Astwood Road and The Foregate.

In comparison, the most crime-hit residential streets in December were Wiselack Place in Warndon Villages and The Avenue in St John's, which both had 13 reports of crime each that month.

During January the most common type of crime was violence and sexual assault which accounted for 410 of the reports.

Second on the list was anti-social behaviour with 190 reports.

And the third most prevalent crime was shoplifting, with 121 reports that month.

Some of the crimes in the violence and sexual assault category took place at Asda, in Silver Street, Crowngate Shopping Centre and Co-op, in Barker Street.

In December, there were 1,100 crimes reported in Worcester. 

There were 406 violence and sexual assault offences reported, 194 reports of anti-social behaviour and the third most prevalent crime was other theft, with 101 reports that month.
